UDI Membership Testimonials
"Our company has been actively involved with UDI for decades. The benefits of membership in UDI are too numerous to list. Some of the highlights are that UDI provides a great source of timely information and education. Additionally, it has opened our employees to a networking opportunity that is unparalleled in this industry. I would not hesitate to recommend UDI membership to any development company, large or small."
- David Porte, Porte Development Corp.
"With a 40-year track record, UDI has become the most respected voice for the development industry. I have seen firsthand the tremendous benefit that comes from being at the table with both provincial and municipal leaders when policy is being formed or amended. The development industry is in a much stronger position being represented by a highly professional and unified industry association such as UDI.
UDI provides my team of dynamic, young professionals an unparalleled opportunity to build a network of business relationships and become engaged in critical industry issues. The educational opportunities and training aspects that UDI offers in the development of my people are highly valued."
- Don Forsgren, Intracorp Projects Ltd.
"It is a privilege to serve on the board of the Urban Development Institute. A champion for the housing and development industry, UDI is a critical force in shaping public policy in B.C., helping to create more homes for more people and promoting sustainable and economical urban growth. The development industry may be fiercely competitive, but through the auspices of UDI, it is also richly collaborative: like others who work in or with the industry, SFU Community Trust benefits from its involvement with UDI as we develop UniverCity, the award-winning community on Burnaby Mountain."
- Gordon Harris, UniverCity
"My serving as a volunteer, and on the Board of the UDI, has helped our company make an impact on our industry and our city. It's broadened my sense of how we can make a difference; by being an active part of a bigger picture. Housing isn't just about building more homes for more people. It's about building a great city in which to live. The Urban Development Institute contributes to this goal in an important and constructive way."
- David Allison, Braun/Allison Real Estate Branding & Creative Services
"It is a rewarding experience that provides me an opportunity to share the latest insights on the challenges, issues and future opportunities in the real estate development sector. It has been a pleasure to be part of it!"
- Kevin Layden, Wesbild Holdings Ltd.
"We are very grateful for both the opportunities and support that the UDI has provided our family of companies. We have been fortunate recipients of the merits of their educational opportunities (the UDI School of Development Series, multiple luncheons and/or breakfast seminars) and professional growth opportunities (firstly with the UDI U-40 board, subsequently with their sub-committees, and most recently with involvement on the UDI Board). Through these interactions we have formed valuable relationships, both personal and professional, with some of the industry’s most respected leaders. We also believe that as a lobbying voice for the local development industry, the UDI leads the way. Our industry’s collective voice is well represented by the support that the UDI’s core staff provides the Board and its Members, and we are continually impressed by the consistency and depth of their knowledge of the pressing issues at hand."
