BC Developer Elected Head of National...Organization

The Urban Development Institute of Canada is please to announce that Ward McAllister has been elected as President to serve for the next two years.

The Urban Development Institute is a national non-profit association of the development industry and its related professions. The Institute’s 1,500 corporate members represent thousands of individuals involved in all facets of land development, planning, financing, construction and marketing.

Mr. McAllister is President and CEO of Ledingham McAllister Properties Ltd., a Vancouver based real estate development firm with three successful divisions involved in development and construction of shopping centres, multi-family housing and seniors projects. He has served for three consecutive terms as President of the Urban Development Institute-Pacific Region and has been a director on the Board of UDI Canada for the past three years.

McAllister said he looks forward to working with his colleagues in the development industry across the country in forging stronger partnerships to heighten public awareness.

“We will be focusing on communicating to the public and to key stakeholders, like governments, around the important issues that arise from community building in communities large and small,” McAllister explained.

McAllister said the members of the Urban Development Institute consider themselves vital partners in community building and hope to play a lead role in building stronger and healthier cities in Canada.

Mr. McAllister was born, raised and educated in Vancouver and actively serves on several community and industry boards and committees, and has received many awards and mentions for his contribution to the development industry over the past twenty five years.

The Urban Development Institute of Canada represents developers, property managers, financial institutions, lawyers, engineers, planners, architects, appraisers, real estate professionals, local governments and government agencies, involved in an industry which is responsible for more than $75 billion annually in economic activity. UDI Canada is affiliated with many similar organizations internationally.
