Message from the City of Vancouver:
As you may be aware, our office is currently developing the next edition of the Vancouver Building By-law based on the recently released 2010 National Building Code of Canada and the proposed 2012 British Columbia Building Code.
Over the next few months, we are seeking your comments on proposed by-law amendments that will be used to form part of the new 2012 Vancouver Building By-law. Opportunities for public comment on two separate sets of draft proposed By-law amendments are scheduled for November 2011 to January 2012, and January to March 2012. The Public Consultation process is available online at: http://vancouver.ca/2012VBBL/ Comments may be provided to our office through the website.
The proposed amendments have been grouped into the following categories:
* Model Codes - Amendments that form part of the 2010 National Building Code and/or the proposed 2012 BC Building Code.
* Environmental Protection - Amendments addressing the environmental objectives of the by-law.
* Flex Space - Amendments to permit a wider range of uses over the lifespan of a building.
* General Amendments - Amendments that do not fall into the above noted categories.
I look forward to receiving your comments. Your input will help establish clear and appropriate regulations for all buildings in the City of Vancouver. Should you have any questions or concerns about this process, please feel free to contact Will Johnston (details below).
