For over 40 years, the Urban Development Institute (UDI) has been dedicated to fostering effective communication between the industry, government and the public, and has an extensive policy and technical committee structure to ensure best-practice policy development that is constructive, credible, consultative, and founded on a strict code of ethics.
UDI's policy activities are concentrated on government relations, research, advocacy, and education. UDI promotes sound planning and development principles. We partner with municipalities and community groups on issues such as Community Plans, Transit-Oriented Development, Community Amenity Contributions, green building requirements, housing affordability, and sustainability.
UDI also acts as the voice of the development industry involved in all facets of land development and planning. UDI members are represented by an elected Board of 27 leading industry practitioners responsible for the strategic direction of the Institute.
UDI is a “partner in community building” with many municipalities and has several Municipal Liaison Committees throughout BC. In addition, UDI has Legal, Tax and Technical Committees, as well other specialized Subcommittees. For more information on Policy Committees, please contact our head office at 604-669-9585.
